After a successful 13-year-long career, former UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez announced his retirement from MMA and also withdrew his name from the USADA testing pool. In his more than a decade-long career, Velasquez faced many opponents and has been a part of some memorable matches. His career took a boom when he defeated Brock Lesnar via TKO in the first round of UFC 121. Though he has started a new career, UFC fans will always remember raw power and bloody matches.

Here are some of Cain Velasquez’s best matches in UFC

Cain Velasquez vs ‘Bigfoot’ Antonio Silva

The story between these two fighters is unlike anything. After losing his title to Junior Dos Santos in his first title defence, Cain Velasquez made a big return. To get a chance to win his title back from Santos, Velasquez had to win against Silva, and he did. From that start, Velasquez dominated Silva with his big right hand, before sending to him the ground and continue the punishment. The fight was so brutal that it took months for Silva to recover. Velasquez went on to defeat Santos and reclaim his title.

Cain Velasquez vs Brock Lesnar

This is the match which took Cain Velasquez to a different level. After defeating Nogueira, Velasquez earned a UFC Heavyweight Championship fight with then-champ Brock Lesnar at UFC 121. During the match, both the wrestlers showed excellent fight, but Velasquez came out on top and defeated the Beast via TKO in the first round, earning Knockout of the Night honours. Both the fighters suffered some serious injuries from the fight. Cain Velasquez suffered a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder during his fight with Brock Lesnar and was expected to be sidelined for at least six to eight months.

Cain Velasquez vs Antonio Nogueira

By defeating Antonio Nogueira at UFC 110, Cain Velasquez earned a shot for is maiden title match. The match started with the fighters, checking each other’s strength and trying to figure out their opponent’s upcoming move. Velasquez however, took the first shot and floored Nogueira with a three-punch combo. The later followed the combo with four more punches. The match ended so quickly that it looked as if Velasquez hadn't even broken a sweat.
