The International Cricket Council (ICC) has always been concerned with security issues in Pakistan. There have been multiple reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reluctant to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. India played the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup in hybrid model with their matches scheduled in Sri Lanka. Something on the similar lines is being anticipated to happen for the 2025 Champions Trophy but currently the ICC has its attention on Bangladesh.
Violent protests began in Bangladesh after High Court reinstated a quota system for government jobs. The quota is said to have reserved 30 percent of government jobs for family members of freedom fighters from the 1971 war with Pakistan. Protests led by students opposing the quota has now taken a violent form and over 150 people have died in the country.. Bangladesh's trade relations with India have also been impacted and now it has the ICC's attention too.
