Another Feather In Ravichandran Ashwin's Cap, CSK Star To Have A Road Named In Chennai After Him

India and Chennai Super Kings star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to have a road named after him in Chennai.

Ravichandran Ashwin 's decorated cricket career is a testament to his success. The veteran Indian spinner is all set to feature for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 after being bought for a whopping 9.75 crore at the mega auction last year.

Ravichandran Ashwin To Have A Road Named After Him In Chennai

Ashwin already has several accolades to his name and he is on the verge of adding another feather to his cap. The Greater Chennai Corporation has decided to change the name of Ramakrishnapuram Street in Chennai’s West Mambalam to R Ashwin's name. Ashwin currently lives on this street. As per the Times of India, Ashwin's Carrom Ball Event and Marketing Company Private Limited forwarded a proposal to the GCC.

Ashwin announced his international retirement after the Brisbane Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy but will continue to play domestic cricket and is expected to feature for CSK very prominently. The spinner is back to his old stomping ground and will play a pivotal role for MS Dhoni 's team.

Ashwin will now join the likes of former Indian hockey player PR Sreejesh and legendary spinner Anil Kumble who also have similar accolades.

Ashwin also happens to be the second-highest Indian wicket-taker in Test matches while he stands eighth in the all-time Test wicket-taking list. Ashwin also lifted the 2011 ODI World Cup while he also played a pivotal role in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy . He is also sixth in the all-time IPL wicket-taker list with 180 scalps to his name.

CSK will open their IPL 2025 campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 23 at the Chepauk Stadium. The five-time IPL champions failed to reach the playoffs last year and the onus will be on Ruturaj Gaikwad to get his team pass the final hurdle this campaign.
