In what could be defined as a peculiar dismissal, Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim could not refrain his reflexes and wavered the trajectory of a ball in play by his hand. Ramim was adjudged out for breaking the rule of the game, i.e., the batsman cannot tamper with the direction of the ball, which has not reached a fielder or not stopped moving, by his mere hand. New Zealand fielders were quick to point out the goof-up made by the Bangladeshi batter and got the reward due to an unforced error.

Mushfiqur Rahim gets out in an unusual way

Day 1 of the second Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand turned out to be quite an eventful one. After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first. The openers Mahmudal Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan tried to give Bangladesh a steady start but their persistence could not last beyond a 29-run stand. Wickets began to tumble following that and in an instant Bangla Tigers were reeling at 47/4. After that, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shahadat Hossain began to resurrect the innings. The partnership was building and just when it seemed like both batsmen had got their eye in and would look to take the ship forward, disaster struck their innings, and the biggest talking point of the day ensued

Mushfiqur, who was batting at 35, defended a Kyle Jamieson ball and to stop the ball from meeting with the steps, he parried it with his hand. While he was successful in changing the direction of the ball, he had broken a law and and as a consequence, the umpire directed him to move to the direction of the pavilion. Here's what transpired at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.

Mushfiqur Rahim is the first Bangladesh batter to get out in this manner. However, he is not the first overall in history. Mohinder Amarnath, Mohsin Khan, and Michael Vaughan are a few of the players who have gotten out in this fashion before.
