BCCI To Take Key Decision Over Tobacco Sponsorships, Form Organizing Committee For Women's ODI WC 2025 | Reports

Ahead of the commencement of the IPL 2025 season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are expected to take up some critical decisions, which include the formation of an organizing committee for the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup in 2027. The Indian Cricket Board will be taking another key decision regarding the aforementioned ICC tournament. The Apex Council will be involved in making the decisions. The BCCI could also take up the subject of banning all tobacco-related advertisements in cricket stadiums around the country.  

BCCI To Decide Upon Banning Tobacco & Crypto Ads In Next Apex Meet

After the Health Ministry issued a directive to the BCCI to ban all forms of tobacco and alcohol-related promotions and refrain from surrogate advertising during the IPL 2025 season, the board is expected to take a call on it. The BCCI Apex Council may raise the subject in their upcoming meeting, which is expected to include advertisements related to tobacco and cryptocurrency. The meeting will be held in Kolkata on March 22, right before the IPL 2025 season opener clash at the iconic Eden Gardens.

"Discussion regarding sponsorship from tobacco and crypto brands," As per a report from PTI, who accessed the agenda for the upcoming meeting.

Apex Council To Establish Organizing Committee For Women's ODI WC 2025

The BCCI's Apex Council meeting's agenda also includes a dialogue to establish an organizing committee for the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup, which is expected to be hosted in October-November 2025. The executives involved would also decide on the venues which will be hosting the matches for the ICC event. A decision will also be made on the framework of the 2025-26 domestic season.

"Discussion on formation of LOC for Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 and discussion regarding venues for Women's Cricket World Cup 2025," the reports added.

The IPL's season opener clash will happen between the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, who will lock horns against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 23, 2025.
