Champions Trophy 2025: Former India Opener Akash Chopra highlighted the severity of the toss in the first Champions Trophy semifinal clash between India and Australia. He reflected upon the old wounds from the 2023 World Cup Final, where Australia chose to bowl first, which was a game-changer. Chopra also opined that the toss remains an issue, as India hasn't won any in quite a while, and he is hopeful for the Men in Blue to win it against the Aussies this time.
Ex-India Star Wants Rohit Sharma To Win The Toss This Time
Team India has had a dominant run so far in the tournament, and they have successfully defeated Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand to stay at the top of the group leaderboard. However, facing Australia would be one of the biggest challenges in the game, as they once derailed India's hopes for a World Cup title in 2023. Ahead of the clash, former cricketer turned commentator Akash Chopra signifies the importance of the toss, and he wishes India wins it this time, as it could give them an advantage.
“We haven’t won a single toss so far. Rohit has sworn that he won’t win the toss and won’t lose the match. It sounds fine, but the toss remains an issue. Australia won the toss in Ahmedabad (2023 World Cup final) and, contrary to expectations, chose to bowl first. That decision proved to be a game-changer.
“If someone tells you that the toss isn’t important and you can restrict the opposition while chasing, I disagree. If Australia get 270, it won’t be chased easily. So, in my opinion, the toss holds incredible importance in this game. Rohit, please win one toss,” Akash Chopra said in one of his videos on his YouTube channel.

IND vs AUS: It's All On The Line
All eyes are on the first semifinal of the Champions Trophy as India and Australia will lock horns at UAE's Dubai International Stadium. The Indian side would look to avenge the loss, which denied them of an ODI World Cup win at their home.

On the other hand, Australia might be injury-ridden, but their grit and tenacity have been some of their premier aspects throughout the marquee ICC tournament. The Steve Smith-led side won just one game, while the others ended up in a draw because of incessant rain.
The winner of the first semifinal will advance into the Champions Trophy summit clash, which will take place on March 09, 2025.
