The Lucknow Super Giants got a massive win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their Indian Premier League match as Rishabh Pant's men won the game by five wickets. The match saw several outstanding performances from LSG players which included the likes of Shardul Thakur and Nicholas Pooran. SRH who batted first could only make 190 runs as they lost 9 wickets in their 20 overs. This target was chased by the Lucknow Super Giants in just 16.1 overs. The man of the match award was presented to Shardul Thakur who bowled figures of 4/34 in his four overs.
Cheteshwar Pujara while speaking at ESPNcricinfo's TimeOut show, anaylzed the plan used by Shardul Thakur in the match against SRH as he took four wickets and played a massive role in restricting the destructive batting line up to just 190 runs. While speaking at the show he talked about how Shardul was looking to mix it up by swing the ball and also bowling occasional yorkers.
“One is, he is looking to swing the ball. With the new ball, he is getting that shape into the left-handers and he's trying to mix it up with the yorkers. If you look at the previous deliveries, which Abhishek or Travis Head faced, he tried bowling yorkers - it was low full-tosses - but as a batter you are thinking, is it going to be a yorker or a back-of-a-length ball,” said Cheteshwar Pujara as he analyzed the bowling performance of Shardul Thakur.
Cheteshawar Pujara while further speaking on the show opened up on how he feels that Shardul Thakur dismissed Abhishek Sharma. Pujara feels that the mixing up by Thakur was leaving the batters confused and that is why Abhishek Sharma was late on his shot leading to him losing his wicket.
“And suddenly, he bowls a bumper, which could surprise a batter. And then you have less fraction of a second to execute you shot, and that's why I think Abhishek was late on his shot,” Pujara further added to his statements.
