'Consider All Possibilities': Jos Buttler Sheds Light On Future As Captain Following ENG's Shock Exit From Champions Trophy

Afghanistan defeated England by eight runs in their ICC Champions Trophy match. The defeat also meant that England were eliminated from the tournament.

Afghanistan shocked the cricketing world after they defeated England in their Champions Trophy match by eight runs. With England losing against Afghanistan, England were also kicked out of the Champions Trophy in a shock group stage exit. The match full of twists and turns went down to the wire as Joe Root's 120 off 111 could not salvage the English cause. Ibrahim Zadran was the star of the match for Afghanistan after he played a ferocious knock of 177 off 146 balls to help set a target of 326. 

Following England's shock exit, captain Jos Buttler shed some light on his future as the captain of the side.

England captain Jos Buttler following England's shocking exit from the Champions Trophy shed some light on his future. He revealed that all possibilities will be considered and he was not going to make any emotional statements. 

"I don't want to say any emotional statements right now. But I think for myself and the other guys at the top, we should consider all possibilities," said Jos Buttler in the post match press conference.

England who were in the game up until the 48th over, collapsed like a house of cards following the wicket of Jamie Overton who looked dangerous with the bat.

“It's really disappointing. I thought we had our chances in the game. Another fantastic game of cricket, but disappointing to come out on the wrong side,” said Jos Buttler regarding Jamie Overton's wicket which proved to be the turning point in the match. 

Jos Buttler Praises Afghanistan Following 8 Run Defeat 

Jos Buttler in his post match presentation, credited Ibrahim Zadran and Afghanistan's batting and revealed that it was in the last ten overs of the first innings that Afghanistan slipped away from them to put up a massive target on the board.

"They got away from us there in the last 10 overs. Credit to Ibrahim (Zadran), he played a fantastic innings. If we look back and reflect, 113 off the last 10 pushed them up to a score that was a very good score on that pitch," said Jos Buttler about Afghanistan's batting and the match result.
