Cricket World Cup 2019: Indian captain Virat Kohli says marriage has helped him in multiple facets of the game

Being the captain of the Indian team is not an easy task, especially when the massive expectations of 130 crore citizens are on your shoulders. With Virat Kohli gearing up for the biggest test as the skipper at the World Cup, the superstar batsman credited his marriage to Anushka Sharma for making him more responsible, thus helping him improve his captaincy.

In a recent interview with a portal, Virat was asked about the pre-marriage and post-marriage difference he felt as a player. The captain replied that there was no difference in his mind. The 30-year-old, however, stated that after marriage, one becomes more responsible. He stated that the responsibility before nuptials were different.  

Virat shared that after marriage, there was a better sense of understanding of things that helps one put things into perspective well. The No 3 batsman stated that the responsibility helps in the captaincy aspect as well. The cricketer also shared that it has improved his captaincy, as a player and as a human being.

‘Virushka’ had got married at Tuscany, Italy on December 11, 2017. And there’s no denying the fact that his performances, as a player and as a captain have been top-notch since then. Being the highest-ranked in both Tests and ODIs as a player currently and taking his team to the top spot in Tests and second in the shorter format is enough evidence of the same. 

The star cricketer would now hope to add the World Cup on his captaincy resume as India kickstarts its campaign against South Africa on June 5.
