The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru witnessed a lively atmosphere on Day 1 of the India vs New Zealand 1st Test, with a banter between Mohammed Siraj and Devon Conway adding to the excitement. As Conway slammed Siraj for a four in the 15th over, the crowd erupted in chants of "DSP-DSP-DSP" for Siraj, while the rest of the crowd joined in with "CSK-CSK-CSK" chants.

Crowd chants 'CSK-CSK' as Siraj sledges Conway

Devon Conway, who played a fluent knock and scored his fifty in just 54 balls, seemed unfazed by the banter and went on to surpass India's first innings total of 46. He eventually departed for 91 runs, missing out on a well-deserved century against India.

During his knock, Devon Conway was sledged by Mohammed Siraj for playing aggressively. As Siraj fired a few words at Conway, the crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium erupted in loud cheers of CSK-CSK. Conway plays for CSK in the Indian Premier League. Meanwhile, Siraj was recently appointed the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Telangana.

The CSK chants were a nod to Devon Conway's impressive performance in the IPL 2023 season, where he played a key role in Chennai Super Kings ' title win. He was the third-leading run-getter in the competition, smashing 672 runs in 15 innings at an average of 51.69 and a strike rate of 139.71. Conway was also the Player of the Match in the final against Gujarat Titans , scoring 47 off 25.

Despite missing the IPL 2024 due to injury, Conway is likely to be retained by CSK for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. He is expected to open alongside skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and provide quick starts for the team.
