Pant's car collided with a divider and went into flames. But he managed to escape his vehicle and local people also came to his rescue as it could have been a more serious injury for the 26-year-old. Pant later underwent surgery and after a lengthy rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, he is now likely to participate in the IPL 2024.

In a video posted by Delhi Capitals, the left arm spinner reiterated what was his first reaction after hearing the news. "Early morning I got a call from Pratima di. She asked me when did I talk to Rishabh Pant last? I told her that I was about to talk to him last day but I did not.

"Pratima said that she needed Pant's mother's contact number as the player has met an accident. At first time, I thought he is gone.

“I called him and they (medical staff) said, 'he is fine, it is not understood yet how many injuries he has suffered but he is alive'. And after that I ended the call and took a sigh of relief. Now I was assured that he'll fight. He is a fighter.”
