Gautam Gambhir Reveals Names Of Players Who Are Seen As Options To Replace Rohit Sharma in 1st Test

As the Border-Gavaskar series approaches, there are reports that Indian Captain Rohit Sharma will not be playing in the first test match of the Border Gavaskar series due to personal reasons. There is still no confirmation on whether Rohit Sharma will be available for the first test in Perth according to Indian team coach Gautam Gambhir . 

Gambhir Speaks To Media, Reveals Still No Confirmation 

Indian coach Gautam Gambhir spoke to the members of the press for the first time since India's humiliating 3-0 loss against New Zealand in the recently concluded test series. While speaking to the members of the media, Gautam Gambhir revealed there is yet still no confirmation on whether Rohit Sharma will play in the first test match in Perth.

“There is no confirmation. We'll let you know. Hopefully he’ll be available. Everything you’ll get to know by the start of the series,” stated Gautam Gambhir to the members of the press. 

Gambhir Names Two Players Who Could Replace Rohit Sharma In The First Test 

As there is a chance that Gautam Gambhir might not feature in the first test match, during the pre-departure press conference, Gautam Gambhir named the two players he feels can replace Rohit Sharma in the squad. There two players are Abhimanyu Easwaran and KL Rahul .

"Obviously there is Easwaran and there is KL Rahul there. So we will take a call closer to the first Test match if Rohit is not available. There are options there, it's not that there are no options there. There are quite a few options in the squad.

"Once it gets closer to the first Test match, we'll plan and play the best playing XI that's going to do the job for us," said Gambhir as he named the replacements for Rohit Sharma incase he misses the first test.
