Team India underwent a training session after reaching the Pallekele International Stadium, as they began their white-ball tour to Sri Lanka. As per Revsports, Hardik Pandya underwent some match simulation under the observation of assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. The all-rounder hit a shot and claimed that it was a boundary. But the assistant coach did not agree, as he claimed that there was a fielder in the position.
Hardik then inquired about the specific position, to which Nayar highlighted to a reporter, whose response reassured both of them. On the all-rounder's demand, Abhishek Nayar inquired about the shot. The reporter said cheekily, "If you have placed your fielder here, it's a boundary." The response left Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Nayar laughing out loud as Team India continued their training.

Hardik Pandya, the T20 World Cup champion, seemed to be in good spirits despite losing the T20I captaincy. Suryakumar Yadav was chosen over him as the T20I captain, and his fitness difficulties were the primary reason for the abrupt change.
Team India will face Sri Lanka in T20Is under a new captaincy, with SKY taking charge. Charith Asalanka has been named captain of the Sri Lanka T20I team, which will play its inaugural match at the Pallekele International Stadium in Sri Lanka.
