How India Destroyed Pakistan: Ex-PCB Chief Ramiz Raja Explains Reason for Pak’s Loss to Bangladesh
Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja has revealed how India destroyed Pakistan which ultimately led to their shocking defeat against Bangladesh.
Pakistan were left embarrassed once again in cricket after they suffered a hammering 10 wicket defeat at home to Bangladesh in the first of two match test series between the two sides. This marked the first time Pakistan ever lost a test match to Bangladesh.
While, Pakistan lost to Bangladesh former PCB chief and Pakistan cricket great Ramiz Raja explained how India has a major role to play in the downgrade of Pakistan's cricket.
How India destroyed Pakistan?
Pakistan have not won a home test match in 1,294 days and especially in the past year their cricket team have faced various meltdowns. They were knocked out in the group stages in both ODI World Cup 2023 and the T20 World Cup 2024 and losing to Bangladesh in test match at home despite scoring more than 400 runs is a new low for them.
According to Ramiz Raja all of Pakistan's current struggles started from when they lost to India in the Asia Cup last year when KL Rahul and Virat Kohli scored centuries.
Raja said that ever since that match against India, Pakistan's reputation of being a fast bowl reliant team has finished. Pakistan seemed to have lost all their confidence since that game.
“The reputation based on which we rely on our fast bowlers is finished. This debacle, a sort of a confidence crisis, started during the Asia Cup when India bashed our pacers on seaming conditions and then the secret was out to the world that the only way to counter this line-up was to attack. Their speeds have decreased, and so have their skill set,” revealed Ramiz Raja.
Raja further lashed out at the Pak bowlers for not focusing on the game, “The Bangladesh fast bowlers seemed more penetrative while our bowlers were involved in more drama around their wickets”.
Ramiz Raja further said that the loss to Bangladesh was also down to bad team selection.
“There was a mistake in team selection. You were without a spinner,” said Raja.
ICC reprimands Pakistan
Pakistan's loss to Bangladesh was bad in itself but to make matters even worse, ICC have reprimanded the side and docked six World Test Championship points for slow over rate.
The ICC has further fined Pakistan 30% of their match fee and Pakistan skipper Shan Masood accepted the sanctions.
