‘I Don’t See Any Reason’: Rohit Sharma's Hard-Hitting Take on KL Rahul’s Future in Test Cricket

As Team India engage in Test Cricket action in Hyderabad, the anticipation over KL Rahul 's return is higher than ever. The wicketkeeper-batter put up a solid display against South Africa and also seemed on the right track during the England tour of India. But an injured forced him to go off-action. With the emergence of the upstart cricketers ion the game, KL' future in the team was under scrutiny. Amid the chatter, Rohit Sharma spoke up on the situation.

While addressing the press conference, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma responded to a query about KL Rahul 's future in Test Cricket. The Team India wicketkeeper-batter hasn't had much chances after he suffered an injury during the England tour of India series' Hyderabad Test match. Rohit expressed that everyone is aware of his qualities and also revealed that he wanted him to play all the games and bring out his best form in display. The skipper added that he does not sees any reason why KL cannot flourish in red-ball cricket.

“There are only handful people in world cricket who've had a smooth ride. We all have to understand what is expected. The kind of quality KL has, everybody knows about it. We wanted him to play all games and bring the best out of him. It is important that we give him a clear message.

"Now he is back, he got a 100 in South Africa. Then he got injured. It is there for us to see, the guy has got the talent. It is important we give him opportunities. I don't see any reason why he can't flourish in Test cricket,” Rohit Sharma said at the pre-match press conference in Chennai, TN.

KL Rahul will return to the test cricket fray after he was announced as a part of the 16-man squad for the first Test Match against Bangladesh . KL is expected to be in the middle order as a specialist batter since Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel  will be in contention for the wicket-keeping role. But Rahul could also face some competition as Sarfaraz Khan could pose a challenge as he was in good form during the Duleep Trophy tournament. It is yet to be seen on whom will the management elect in the Playing XI.
