ICC Punishes Pakistan: PAK Cricket Team Lose 6 Points In WTC 2025, Captain Shan Masood Accepts Fault
In the opening Test of the two-match series, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets. Pakistan are currently at the eighth spot of the WTC 2025 points table
World Test Championship 2025: Pakistan Cricket Team's problems just don't seem top end anytime soon. Like always, they seemed quite hopeful of reaching the WTC 2025 finals, but with every passing day, it feels as if the doors of the finals are closing for them. They sustained a shocking defeat at the hands of Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. Bangladesh's 10-wicket win was also their first victory against Pakistan in Pakistan.
ICC Reprimands Both Bangladesh And Pakistan
Pakistan and Bangladesh have locked horns with each other in a two-match Test series. This series is crucial to their hopes of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 finals, but it has now been severely dented by the ICC. The International Cricket Council has found that both the teams were guilty of slow over rates.
Pakistan, the home side were found to be six overs short during the Test and have been docked six World Test Championship points. Bangladesh on the other hand, who were ecstatic by their ten-wicket win over the hosts have been docked three points after being found three overs short of the acceptable rate.

The ICC has further fined Pakistan 30% of their match fee and Bangladesh 15% of their match fee. The captains of both the teams Shan Masood and Najmul Hossain accepted the proposed sanctions. Pakistan will continue to be on the eighth spot, whereas Bangladesh, who earlier were on the sixth spot will now drop down to the seventh spot. The second Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test starts on Friday in Rawalpindi.
ICC Penalizes Shakib Al Hasan
Not just both the teams, but Shakib Al Hasan also been fined 10% of his match fees. In addition to the deduction of his match fee, Shakib has also been handed a demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The Bangladesh all-rounder threw the ball at Rizwan in the 33rd over of the second innings after the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman had walked away.
