Excitement will be at its peak ahead of David Warner's The Hundred debut. The 38-year-old signed a lucrative deal to represent London Spirit in the tournament this season.
Warner was picked by the Southern Brave in the inaugural edition but he couldn't participate due to international fixture congestion. He was overlooked last year and this year he will be back at the Lord's, where he had an altercation with some members in the iconic Long Room during the Ashes 2023.
The incident occurred in the aftermath of Jonny Bairstow's infamous stumping by Alex Carey and it also led to the expulsion of one member and suspension of two others. The historical Lord's will be Warner's home for a brief period and he could be in for a very awkward encounter with the English crowd.
Hostile reception could be a possibility, but Warner insisted people can boo him but should cheer for London Spirit during games. As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo the former Australian cricketer said, "We just have to wait until I step foot on that park first won't we?
"I'll have to walk past the Long Room first to get to the changing room!
"I'm really looking forward to it. I know how the English crowds are and that excites me as well, whether they're supporting me, the team or whoever it is. I just love being over there, playing in front of the crowd."
He further added, “I actually want them to come at Australians. I love that stuff. That's what gets me going. But I want them to support London Spirit. If they want to boo me, boo me, but don't boo the team or anything like that. Keep cheering for us."

Warner is expected to be picked up in the playing XI when The Hundred kicks off with a match between the London Spirit and Oval Invincibles on August 5 at the Lord's.
