IND Vs NZ: Rohit Sharma Becomes Second Indian Captain To Smash 50-Plus Scores In Champions Trophy 2025 Final

Champions Trophy 2025: As India won the Champions Trophy title for the third time, Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books with his 76-run knock against New Zealand in the Final clash of the tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 9.  Rohit played a captain's knock in the finals against the Kiwis. The 37-year-old gave the Men in Blue a kickstart during the run chase with his 76-run knock from 83 balls at a strike rate of 91.56. He slammed seven fours and three sixes during his time on the crease.

The Men in Blue sealed a stunning four-wicket victory over the Black Caps in the Final game of the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.

With his stunning knock in the Champions Trophy 2025 Final, Rohit became the second indian skipper to slam 50-plus scores in the Champions Trophy 2025. Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly stands at the top of the chart with a 117-run knock in the 2000 edition of the ICC event. Ganguly's knock also came against the Kiwis in Nairobi.

Former Sri Lanka batter Sanath Jayasuriya holds the third place in the list with a 74-run knock against India in the 2002 Champions Trophy Final in Colombo. Former South African batter Hansie Cronje's unbeaten 61 runs against West Indies in the 1998 final holds in the fourth place of the elusive feat.

During the toss, Rohit Sharma equalled Brian Lara's unwanted landmark of losing 12 back-to-back toses in ODIs. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat against the Men in Blue on March 9 in Dubai. Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell displayed a stunning performance and powered New Zealand to 251/7 in the first inning.

The Indian spinners put up a show in the first inning. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy led the Indian bowling attack with their two-wicket haul in their respective spells. The Men in Blue need 252 runs to win the final game. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja picked up one wicket each in their respective spells in Dubai. 

Rohit Sharma played a crucial knock of 76 runs, which helped the Men in Blue inch closer to the target. In the end, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul stayed unbeaten on the crease and powered Team India to win the Champions Trophy 2025 by beating New Zealand by four wickets.

Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell led the Kiwi bowling attack, but it was enough for them to win the game.
