IPL 2025: The cash-rich Indian Premier League starts on March 22, 2025 and the first match of the tournament will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. India recently won the Champions Trophy and now the players of the Indian team will join their respective franchises ahead of the cash-rich league. Much ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League, Lucknow Super Giants have sustained a massive setback to their campaign. Indian youngster Mayank Yadav who was retained by LSG for a sum of Rs 11 Crores is doubtful to play the first half of the Indian Premier League due to a back injury.

Mayank Yadav's Longstanding Relation With Injury

The star pacer is at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is nursing a lumbar stress. Yadav who has recently resumed bowling has been in rehab since the T20I series against Bangladesh last year. Yadav burst into the scene during IPL 2024, for constantly clocking 150kph. Yadav was also praised for his accuracy. The Indian youngster played four matches in the last IPL season and picked up seven wickets. Yadav was also felicitated with two player of the match awards in his first two IPL matches.

Yadav had registered impressive performances against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Unfortunately for Yadav, his debut IPL season was cut short die to a side strain. Mayank was later received an India call-up for the T20I series against Bangladesh. Mayank will have to get his bowling workload right in order to feature in the second half of the tournament.

Lucknow Super Giants Eye Their Maiden IPL Title

The Lucknow Super Giants are yet to win their maiden Indian Premier League title. LSG debuted in the IPL back in 2022 and was led by KL Rahul till the 2024 season. The Lucknow-based franchise has now procured the services of Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who will lead them in IPL 2025.
