AB de Villiers laughs at Mohammad Kaif's comment on Rohit Sharma 's future in IPL
AB de Villiers was responding to a prediction made by former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, who suggested that Rohit Sharma could lead RCB in IPL 2025. The speculation comes amid ongoing discussions about player retentions and the upcoming IPL mega auction.
In a video on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers revealed that he found Mohammad Kaif's prediction amusing. "I laughed at that comment," he said.
"It will be the biggest story of the IPL . It will be bigger than Hardik Pandya 's move to Mumbai from Gujarat Titans . If Rohit moves from Mumbai to join rivals RCB…oh my god. I don't think this would happen. There is a zero or 0.1 percent chance."
Mohammad Kaif had praised Rohit Sharma 's abilities as a player, saying that he has the potential to elevate his players' game even further. "I'm telling you with a guarantee that Rohit Sharma turns a player from an 18 to a 20. He knows how to handle players by wrapping his arm around their shoulders," Kaif said.
“If RCB gets a chance, they should definitely take Rohit Sharma as captain,” Mohammad Kaif had said on Star Sports.

Rohit Sharma was replaced by Hardik Pandya as the captain of Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2024 season, sparking speculation about his future with the franchise. However, AB de Villiers is adamant that Rohit will remain with MI, citing the extremely low probability of him joining RCB.
It remains to be seen whether Mohammad Kaif's prediction will come to fruition, but for now, AB de Villiers has poured cold water on the speculation. The IPL 2025 mega auction is expected to take place in November this year.
