Indian Premier League: With days left before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, star wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson joined the Rajasthan Royals training camp in Jaipur after recovering from a finger surgery. Samson will also lead the Rajasthan-based franchise in the upcoming season. According to ESPNcricinfo, it is not yet confirmed whether the Kerala-born cricketer will keep the wicket in the upcoming season or not, as he joined the training camp after undergoing rehab at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. If Samson fails to stand behind the wicket, Dhruv Jurel has to do wicketkeeping duties for the Royals in IPL 2025.

Rajasthan Royals took to their official social media handle and shared a clip of Samson joining training camp. In the video, it was seen Samson hugged head coach Rahul Dravid soon after hitting the ground. The wicketkeeper-batter joined the RR training session straight from the airport.

“Straight from the airport to our first practice match to making everyone smile like he does,” Rajasthan Royals wrote on X while sharing the video.

Samson has played 167 IPL matches, scoring 4419 runs at a strike rate of 138.96 and an average of 30.69. He slammed 3 centuries and 25 fifties in the T20 tournament. In the previous season, the RR captain displayed a stupendous performance. He scored 531 runs from 15 matches at a strike rate of 153.47 and an average of 48.27.

Rajasthan Royals Will Start IPL 2025 Campaign Against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Rajasthan Royals' run in the IPL 2024 came to an end in the play-off after they conceded a 36-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The IPL 2025 will begin on March 22, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face off against each other in the opening fixture of the tournament. Meanwhile, in the upcoming edition of the tournament, the Royals will begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.
