Former England Cricketer Michael Vaughan expressed his sentiments over the BCCI's strict rules on players pulling out of the IPL right before the season could begin. Vaughan echoed Moeen Ali's sentiments, highlighting that Hary Brook was not injured when he pulled out of the cash-rich league's 18th edition. The former cricketer supported the BCCI's tough stance as players not participating derails the franchise's blueprint for the upcoming season.

Michael Vaughan Supports BCCI's Decision To Suspend Harry Brook

England's Harry Brook has been banned from registering for the next two editions of the Indian Premier League after 2025. The batter pulled himself out from the Delhi Capitals , who had invested INR 6.25 Crore to include him in the mix. The rules were announced before the players registered for the IPL mega auction. While the Indian Cricket Board's decision is deemed harsh, former cricketers have backed up the BCCI in enforcing such norms to limit such instances. Michael Vaughan has backed up the board's decision.

"I think they are right. You put yourself forward. The rules were the rules. They announced them at the end of last year's IPL. Put yourself into the auction, you say yes, and then you pull yourself out for nothing. He's not injured, he just had a feeling that he just didn't want to get over there to play in the IPL. He's going to stay in the UK.

"I get a feeling he's probably going to be the white-ball captain for England down the line, so he just wants to focus his attention on England, which all the England fans would be happy with, but I think the IPL had to bring something in because it does derail the franchises in the piece. I don't think he's been replaced yet," Michael Vaughan said during his appearance on the 'Club Prairie Fire' Podcast.

What Did Moeen Ali Say On BCCI's Action Over Brook?

The BCCI's suspension of Harry Brook for the next two IPL seasons ignited a huge debate over the tough calls taken by the Indian Cricket Board. Many believe restricting players may have an impact down the line, while others say that the rules could bring some stability and players may not pull out frequently for no reason. Former England cricketer Moeen Ali expressed that the BCCI's move is welcome, adding that the action taken was not severe.

Moeen Ali expressed that the BCCI's rules weren't harsh and that he agrees with them, as a lot of players have done similar things in the past. But they find their way back into the IPL and are offered much more lucrative packages. However, pulling out right before the season's commencement may have a lot of impact on the team's strategy as they need to reshuffle everything after that.

It is yet to be seen whether the Delhi Capitals announce Harry Brook's replacement for the IPL 2025 season.
