Dale Steyn reveals that he won’t be returning to India for the IPL 2025
Former fast bowler Dale Steyn, who coached Sunrisers Hyderabad 's fast bowling for IPL 2024, revealed on X (previously Twitter) his intention to resign from this post on October 17.
Previously representing clubs like RCB, Gujarat Titans , and SRH in the IPL , Steyn confirmed he will not be returning to India for the following year's event. Rather, he intends to concentrate on his SA20 league performance with Sunrisers Eastern Cape, hoping to help them to win their third straight championship. Dale Steyn on X announced:
“Cricket announcement. A big thank you to Sunrisers Hyderabad for my few years with them as bowling coach at the IPL , unfortunately, I won’t be returning for IPL 2025. However, I will continue to work with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 here in South Africa. Two time winners here in SA20, let’s try make it THREE in a row,”
In December 2021, Dale Steyn was hired as Sunrisers Hyderabad 's fast bowling coach, a role he held for three years. He was instrumental in the growth of players like Umran Malik, who attracted attention in IPL 2022 by bowling 22 wickets in 14 matches and then qualified for the Indian national squad.
