After pulling off a dream IPL debut in a high-pressure contest against the Chennai Super Kings, 24-year-old Vignesh Puthur was hailed by the team after the match. The wrist spinner's impactful spell against CSK earned praise from the franchise owner Nita Ambani. The young spinner also shared his thoughts over his debut as well as MI's game against the Ruturaj-Gaikwad-led CSK.
At the Mumbai Indians' dressing room, franchise owner Nita Ambani presented a special reward to Vignesh Puthur after his spectacular IPL debut on Sunday. The Kerala-based wrist spinner was announced as the best bowler in the game of the side, and Nita Ambani presented him with a special pin, which she put on his kit. Puthur then capped off with a speech and he thanked the franchise for the opportunity. He also thanked skipper Suryakumar Yadav for the support, which allowed him to remain pressure-free during the match-up.
"I want to thank the MI franchise for giving me the opportunity to play the match. I never thought in my life I would play with all these players. I am very happy. We could've won today. Thank you so much, team. Also, our captain. Surya bhai was very supportive. That is why I never felt that much pressure. Thanks for supporting me," Vignesh Puthur said in a video shared by Mumbai Indians on 'X' [Formerly Twitter].
Vignesh Puthur, the 24-year-old wrist spinner from Mallapuram, made a spectacular IPL debut with the Mumbai Indians. He came in as an impact substitute for Rohit Sharma and pulled off a strong presence against the mighty Chennai Super Kings by picking up three wickets in the game. His spell was so impactful that the game almost went out of CSK's hands. Puthur took the dismissals of skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Hooda and Shivam Dube to establish his presence in the game.
After the game, former Team India skipper MS Dhoni was seen having a word with the 24-year-old wrist spinner to give him his flowers and also gave him a pat on his shoulder after an impactful debut
