The IPL 2025 match on April 6th between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants is expected to be rescheduled. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Snehasish Ganguly held two rounds of discussion with the local law enforcement authorities, but he failed to get the green light in terms of security for the IPL fixture.

KKR vs LSG IPL 2025 Encounter Likely To Be Rescheduled

As per the CAB President, the city police ‘have not given the go-ahead’ for the fixture, which could lead to a possible reschedule for the same. The reason for the IPL match not receiving security clearance is due to Ram Navami celebrations. As many as 20,000 processions are expected to happen across the state of West Bengal on the occasion of Ram Navami, as announced by BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. Such events would require heightened surveillance measures, which could impact the security deployment for the scheduled IPL 2025 match-up.

"They have categorically said they won't be able to provide adequate security. If there's no police protection, accommodating a 65,000-strong crowd becomes impossible. We have informed the BCCI, and there is still time to take a final call. Even last year, a scheduled IPL match on Ram Navami had to be rescheduled," the CAB President said, as quoted by PTI.

Given that the KKR vs LSG is a big money match, a massive crowd was expected to grace the Eden Gardens and it would require increased security for the cricket stadium. Last season, a similar instance occurred and the KKR vs RR match had to be rescheduled because of the Ram Navmi celebrations.

CAB President Speaks On The IPL Opening Ceremony

With the Kolkata Knight Riders being the defending champions, Eden Gardens will have the honour to host the season opener clash as well as the final. For the season opener game, a glittering extravaganza is expected to happen, with superstars like Shreyas Ghoshal & Disha Patani expected to put up a performance. ICC Chairperson Jay Shah is also expected to be present among other notable dignitaries. CAB President Ganguly did not hand out much information, but he sounded his excitement to host such a ceremony after a long time.

"It's a marquee match with full demand for tickets. Eden Gardens is set to host an opening ceremony after a long time," CAB President Snehasish Ganguly added.

Kolkata Knight Riders will be facing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 season opener on March 22, 2025, at the Eden Gardens.
