Virat Kohli's Criticism Of Family Restriction Rules Might Force BCCI To Take Big Step Ahead of India's England Tour: REPORT

After India's shocking loss to Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series, 'Down Under', the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had reportedly released a 10-point diktat to promote unity in the team and to put an end to the superstar culture which existed in the team. The two biggest highlights of the instructions were the players of the Indian team representing their domestic team at regular intervals and families being barred from official tours. India had almost sealed a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) finals but they lost the spot after their 3-1 series defeat against Australia.

BCCI Likely To Review Family Restriction Rule

It is now being reported that the Board of Control fotr Cricket in India (BCCI) might review and make necessary changes in the family stay policy. The reports further stated that the board might allow players to have their families and close ones accompany them on tour for extended periods. The family members of the support staff and the players can stay on tour only if prior permission is taken from the board.

This development comes few days after Virat Kohli slammed the BCCI's family restriction policy and reiterated on how the family members of the players might help them during tough times on overseas tours. India's next overseas tour will be to England, after the culmination of the IPL and that is when this rule might be implemented. According to the current travel policy players who are on tours for more that 45 days will be allowed to join their partners and children (under 18) for one visit per series.

India To Start New WTC Cycle In June

The Indian team will now look ahead to the new WTC 2027 cycle. India start their new World Test Championship cycle with a five-match Test tour to England. There were rumours that the BCCI wanted to revaluate Gautam Gambhir's contract as the Head Coach of the Indian team, but the 'Boys in Blue' won their third Champions Trophy under him. It is safe to say that he will carry on his job as the Head Coach of the Indian cricket team.
