The Lucknow Super Giants have secured a massive win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad after Nicholas Pooran and Opener Mitchell Marsh helped push through with the bat. Hyderabad did a fair job with the ball as they picked up five wickets, but the Super Giants stood tall as they secured a five-wicket win over the hosts at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. It will be the Sunrisers' first loss in IPL 2025.
The Rishabh Pant -led Lucknow Super Giants showed intent against an electrifying Sunrisers Hyderabad on their home turf. With impact sub Mitchell Marsh starting things off with an impactful 31-ball 52. While skipper Rishabh Pant could not get big runs with the bat, Nicholas Pooran did the heavy work after scoring a 26-ball 70 with six fours and six sixes.
David Miller and Abdul Samad performed their part well towards the end, with Miller scoring the winning boundary. LSG now stands at the number two spot in the IPL 2025 standings with the second-best net run rate.
Shardul Thakur continued his dominant performance with the ball as he picked up a four-wicket haul against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The hosts saw their top-order crumble easily after dismissing opener Abhishek Sharma and then taking out Ishan Kishan for a golden duck. Opener Travis Head missed out on his half-century after being bowled out by Prince Yadav at 47. After the threat was neutralized, the game pivoted in LSG's favour as they picked up key wickets to keep SRH under control. The middle-order tried to gain some pace, with Aniket Verma smacking some big shots to score a 13-ball 36 before eventually being dismissed. Klassen's bizarre run-out was an unfortunate sight for them as he could have been a huge contributor in terms of runs for SRH.
All of the Lucknow Super Giants' bowlers secured a wicket to keep SRH at bay. Apart from Thakur's four-wicket haul, Digvesh Rathi, Ravi Bishnoi, Prince Yadav, and the returning Avesh Khan secured a wicket each. Lucknow worked well as a unit after the tough loss to Delhi Capitals , and they will be stronger as they move ahead in the campaign.
