Fans of the Kolkata Knight Riders have come forward to start an unusual trend on social media platform ‘X’ as they condemn the Cricket Association of Bengal. A huge controversy erupted after Eden Gardens' pitch invader Sujan Mukherjee denied skipper Ajinkya Rahane's request to change the playing surface at the stadium.
Fans of the three-time IPL champions, the Kolkata Knight Riders, were not happy with the pitch curator's response to Ajinkya Rahane and they started a #ShameOnCAB hashtag, which went viral at no time. Social media was bombarded with the hashtag as the fans expressed their disappointment over Sujan Mukherjee.
The fans have spoken out in favour of skipper Ajinkya Rahane, while Sujan Mukherjee became the subject of criticism for not denying a home advantage to the Kolkata Knight Riders. Passionate fanbases of the Purple and Gold squad were in action and made their voice heard as #ShameOnCAB became the number one hashtag.
One might wonder if #ShameOnCAB is a paid PR campaign, but the Kolkata fans have been passionate about the franchise and it is visible during their home games at Eden Gardens.
The #ShameOnCAB campaign continues to soar and the fans are in no mood to back down. The voices are being heard over the social media platform ‘X', and the hashtag has found a spot in the trending column at the number two spot, as of this writing.
In the sports section, the hashtag is still trending, with 12k+ tweets and counting, which has made it the third biggest talking point on the social media platform. #CSKvsRCB and #SRHvLSG are the number one and two trends, respectively.
The Kolkata Knight Riders' fans are expected to showcase their support for the team in their next home game when they face off against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025.
