Sunrisers Hyderabad showed who is the boss during their season opener clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The Pat Cummins-led side delivered a terrorizing innings on a flat track as they demolished the RR bowling attack, making them look absolutely ineffective in the second IPL 2025 game. SRH's all-out assault led them to almost break a huge IPL record, but they saved the Royals from suffering an RCB-like embarrassment by just one run.
The Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals, just one run short from levelling the highest-ever team totals in the history of IPL. SRH themselves have the record for the highest total when they went on an all-out rampage against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and scored 287/3. The Sunrisers hold four out of five spots on the list, with the Kolkata Knight Riders being the only other team in the top five.
If the Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to score two runs more, they would have surpassed themselves in the list, and Rajasthan would have suffered the RCB-level embarrassment. One more run and the 2024 runner-ups would have levelled the score in the records list.

Ishan Kishan delivered a masterclass of an innings with his unbeaten innings to propel the Sunrisers Hyderabad to a record-setting 286/8 against the Rajasthan Royals. Kishan secured his maiden IPL ton in 45 balls after opener Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma set the stage. The Aussie opener slammed a 31-ball 67, while Abhishek scored 24 off 11 balls to pivot the momentum on Hyderabad's side.
SRH's middle order also did a fair job, with Nitish Reddy scoring 30, while Heinrich Klassen got 34 runs on the scoreboard. Royals' bowling came into effect when Tushar Deshpande scalped three wickets and Theekshana bagged two. But the damage was already done by SRH, and they need an aggressive approach if they intend to chase the target.
