'Absolute Nonsense': Jason Gillespie Lambasts Sunil Gavaskar's Controversial 'Rhetoric' Over Pakistan Cricket

Former Pakistan cricket's head coach, Jason Gillespie, has dished out heavy criticism over former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar's recent comments over the Mohammad Rizwan-led side. Gillespie said that Gavaskar's claims were absolute nonsense and that it takes time to develop their craft. He added that the team needs to stay with the right players and they could beat anyone if things are done right.

Pakistan Cricket slumped into a new low during the ICC Champions Trophy tournament. The ODI side, led by Mohammad Rizwan, perished in the group stage and failed to pick up any wins in the tournament. After being defeated by the USA in the T20 World Cup, ending their 2025 CT campaign without a win adds to their embarrassing moments. Amid the uproar over PAK's shambolic CT run, Sunil Gavaskar made a disputed statement, saying that India's B team could beat PAK in their ongoing form. However, Gillespie has hit back at the former Indian cricketer's remarks.

"I don't buy this rhetoric. I saw some comments from Sunil Gavaskar about the Indian B team or Indian C team would beat the Pakistan top team. That's nonsense. Absolute nonsense. If Pakistan pick and stick with the right players and give them time to shine and, time to learn and develop their games, they can beat anyone. I've got no doubt about that," Jason Gillespie said.

Will Pakistan Cricket's Fate Ever Change?

Despite Gillespie's supportive comments for the Pakistan Cricket Team, they have failed to advance in their game and develop their skills. Pakistan hosted the Champions Trophy after a prolonged gap, but the host side could not even reach the knockout stage in the previous three ICC tournaments.

The Pakistan Cricket Team has gone through some unstable changes, which resulted in a captaincy change. The PCB has also been through a lot of shifts in the selection squad and coaching staff, which hasn't allowed the side to perform the way they used to do in the past. It is yet to be seen whether another shift would help the team to rebuild.
