ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan cricket is going through it's worst-ever phase and instead of getting their own house in order, they are pointing fingers at India. While this is absolutely bizarre, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has gone on to take a jibe at ICC President Jay Shah.
Ali reckons Shah, who is no more the BCCI secretary, has been partial. The former Pakistan cricketer believes that should not be the case. He went onto question Shah over where he was sitting during the summit clash.
“Jay Shah was there. He also made a little mistake. He is not the BCCI secretary now. He is the ICC head. He should have been seated elsewhere. When you get a position like this you need to be careful of the media too. There was no one from Pakistan in prize distribution because the PCB chairman was not there," Ali said on his YouTube channel.
Ali also felt the PCB chairman should have been present in Dubai for the summit clash between India and New Zealand.
“Mohsin Naqvi, who is the PCB chairman, should have gone to Dubai. This is my view. Because he has his own airplane. Being the host of the Champions Trophy, he could have gone and come back the same night. Only he knows what was the problem. But he should have gone,” Ali added.
Hosts Pakistan failed to win a single match during the mega ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Green, led by Mohammed Rizwan, lost their tournament opener against New Zealand, then they were humiliated by India.
For India, Virat Kohli hit an unbeaten century to take the Men in Blue over the line. And then their final game against Bangladesh was washed out due to rain. The Men in Green exited the tournament with a solitary point.
