Jofra Archer Receives Brutal Hammering On IPL Return, Sets Up Unwanted Record Against SRH

Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Jofra Archer has registered an unwanted record on his IPL return against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rajasthan Royals star Jofra Archer didn't have the desired outcome on his return to IPL. The English bowler now has registered an unwanted record in the IPL.

Archer has conceded 76 runs in his four-over spell and now holds the record of having the most expensive spell in IPL history. He leapfrogged Mohit Sharma who conceded 73 runs while playing for Gujarat Titans against Delhi Capitals. Sunrisers posted a whopping 287 runs on the board and failed to get past their own record by just one run. They registered IPL's highest score last season when they smashed a record-breaking 288 runs against RCB.

Archer was hit for 10 fours and 4 sixes and Travis Head took 23 runs from his first over. The English international last was involved in the IPL 2023 and returned after a prolonged injury spell on the sidelines. Archer recorded very impressive numbers during his previous stint with the Royals. He picked up 15, 11, and 20 wickets in 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Coming to the match, riding on Ishan Kishan's maiden IPL century, SH posted a massive 287 runs on the board. Both openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma launched the onslaught and Ishan continued the momentum as he went to hit a 45-ball hundred in Hyderabad. Head was dismissed for 67 while both Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with valuable contributions.
