‘Country Wants One More Title’: MCA President’s Heartfelt Plea to Rohit Sharma Following T20 WC Win

The Rohit Sharma -led team India was finally able to end the long-standing ICC title drought after defeating South Africa at the T20 World Cup Final. It was a historic moment for India as they fought tooth and nail against the Proteas to bring the title home. As Rohit continues to play in Tests and ODIs, the MCA President has made a humble request to Rohit Sharma.

MCA President Wants Rohit Sharma to Continue as India Skipper and Win More Titles

The Maharashtra Cricket Association President Rohit Pawar has kept a humble plea to the Indian Cricket Team skipper. While speaking at a launch event in Karjat, Maharashtra, he wants Rohit Sharma to remain as the skipper till the 2027 ODI World Cup as the country would love to see another World Cup triumph after they clinched the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

"One request from all of India to Rohit Bhai, Hum ko aur ek world cup chahiye... and we want to see you as the captain while winning that world cup. So everyone wants you to bring another World Cup for our country," the MCA President said.

After hearing the MCA President, the Team India skipper couldn't help but give a smile as he gave a glimpse of his World Cup triumph, saying that he got his life back once again after he won the title.

"Our main aim was to win the World Cup. Once we won the World Cup, fir jaan mein jaan aayi [I got my life back once again]," Rohit Sharma said at the event.

Rohit Sharma announced his retirement after winning the T20 World Cup Final, as he bid adieu to the game's shortest format as a double champion. He won the title for the first time back in 2007 as a young prodigy and then clinched it as the skipper. The India skipper delivered one of his finest performances as he scored 257 runs throughout eight games, with an average of 36.71 and a 156 strike rate. He also picked up three half-centuries and had a top score of 92 to become the second-best run-getter in the tournament.
