PM Holness arrived in New Delhi on Monday for a four-day diplomatic mission, making him the first Jamaican head of state to visit India. Invited by PM Modi, this visit is viewed as a significant milestone in enhancing the relationship between the two countries and will last until October 3.
Upon his arrival, Holness expressed delight in being here in India and mentioned the grandeur of Chris Gayle in a post on 'X' (formerly known as Twitter), "Chris Gayle is not just an icon in Jamaica; he is also widely known, respected, and adored here in India for his cricketing prowess. It's great to be here at the same time as him during our working visit to India. I am also pleased to be joined by Jamaican businessmen of Indian heritage."
India and Jamaica have deep cultural and historical connections, rooted in a shared colonial history, democratic principles, and a mutual enthusiasm for cricket. Gayle, often referred to as the 'Universe Boss,' embodies this shared passion. His impressive cricketing accomplishments have garnered him a large fanbase in India, where cricket is considered more than just a game.
