Kolkata Knight Riders will hope to get a 4th time lucky when they open their IPL 2025 campaign against RCB at the Eden Gardens on March 22. The KKR squad has undergone a massive overhaul at the IPL 2025 auction and Ajinkya Rahane will lead the charge this time. KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 final to lift their 3rd IPL title.
KKR didn't retain their IPL 2024 winning captain Shreyas Iyer and decided to spend a whopping 23.75 crore on Venkatesh Iyer who has been named the vice captain for the IPL 2025 season. Sunil Narine will open the innings once again and Quinton de Kock is likely to assist him. The left-hander can wreak havoc if he is on song and he has the reputation of taking on the bowlers.
The core of the KKR has remained the same, and Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Andre Russell are expected to play a huge role in IPL 2025. Russell's power hitting can definitely complement Rinku's late burst, which has been the case in so many times.
If Anrich Nortje can remain injury free, he can be a solid replacement for Mitchell Starc while Varun Chakravarthy is a definite starter. Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora will complete the bowling lineup. Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Manish Pandey will lead the candidate list to be the impact player.
