The Indian test team were in all sorts of trouble following a disappointing performance in the home test series against New Zealand and the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India had succumbed to a historic 3-0 defeat at home against New Zealand. Following the defeat against New Zealand, India travelled to Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy where the Indian contingent were defeated 3-1. Due to these consecutive test series losses, India were knocked out from contention for the World Test Championship Final.
Following India's losses against New Zealand and Australia, the BCCI released a strict 10-point diktat for all the players to follow in order to end the superstar culture and improve the conditions of Indian test cricket.
In the 10-point diktat released by the BCCI, one of the diktats states that families are not allowed on tours with the players. The diktat by the BCCI stated that families are not allowed on tours with the players. In case a tour is of more than 45 days, then the families can visit the player once during the series.
Following these draconian diktats, star Indian batter Virat Kohli slammed the BCCI and batted for families to be allowed on tours with the players.
"It's very difficult to explain to people how grounding it is to just come back to your family every time you have something which is intense, which happens on the outside," said Virat Kohli while speaking at the RCB Innovational Lab Indian Sports Summit.
Virat Kohli while speaking at the RCB Innovational Lab Indian Sports Summit further batted for families to be included on tours. He opened up how he does not want to go back to his room, sit alone and sulk but would rather prefer to spend time with his family so that he can be normal.
“If you ask any player, do you want your family to be around you all the time? You'll be like, yes. I don't want to go to my room and just sit alone and sulk. I want to be able to be normal. And then you can really treat your game as something that is a responsibility. You finish that responsibility, and you come back to life,” Virat Kohli further stated as he slammed BCCI on the families not being allowed diktat.
Virat Kohli was recently one of the key players in India's Champions Trophy win as he scored a century against Pakistan and his 84 against Australia helped India book a place in the final.
