The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) find themselves in the middle of a fresh controversy again. Star batter Ahmed Shehzad has accused the board of favouritism, false promises and injustice. The star cricketer has withdrawn from the Champions Cup due to these reasons. Shehzad took to his social media account to accuse the board in public. His controversial post on his account on X read: “With a heavy heart, I’ve decided not to play in the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup. The PCB’s favouritism, false promises, and injustice towards domestic players are unacceptable.”

It is unfortunate that a cricketer of his stature has to come out openly and make a statement of such magnitude. He did not stop there as he went on to categorically explain the problems that exist in a video:
“In a time when Pakistan is struggling with inflation, poverty, and massive electricity bills, the PCB is wasting 5 million Rs on mentors for doing nothing and rewarding failed players in the current team who brought Pakistan cricket to an All-time Low,” Shehzad said.
“It’s even more disrespectful that the PCB claims they don’t have ‘instruments for surgery’ which is a huge disrespect for domestic players. As a Pakistani and true cricket lover, I cannot support a system that has no value for merit. I refuse to be a part of this failed setup,” he added.
Currently, the Pakistan national team is playing a Test match at Rawalpindi against Bangladesh.
