The Kolkata Knight Riders have secured a spectacular win over the Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets at the Barsapara Stadium in Assam. Quinton de Kock shone bright with a 97-run knock and struck the winning six to seal the win for the defending champions.
Quinton de Kock was a man on a mission after he successfully powered through the Rajasthan Royals' bowling attack to pick up a win. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Rajasthan Royals to pick up their first win in the IPL 2025 season. de Kock's powerful innings and cameos from skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi helped the Purple & Gold race past the finish line.
KKR lost Moeen Ali early after he suffered a run-out dismissal by Theekshana and Parag's efforts. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane stood for an 18-run knock while Angkrish was unbeaten at 22. RR's bowling unit failed to capitalize as they could not secure any major breakthrough moments in the game. Only Wanindu Hasaranga managed to find a wicket.
Knight Riders' exquisite bowling attack made a key contribution after they gained a chokehold over the Rajasthan Royals' batters. They picked up timely wickets to ensure the hosts did not gain momentum. Top-order stars Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and skipper Riyan Parag could not withstand KKR's classic bowling attack, and it all went downhill after they were limited to 151 at the loss of 9 wickets.
All of KKR's bowlers picked up wickets, with Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, Moeen Ali and Varun Chakaravarthy picking up 8 wickets while Spencer Johnson picked one scalp to leave RR's batting line-up in shambles.
The win gave Kolkata Knight Riders the boost they needed as top-order batter Quinton de Kock pulled off a gorgeous showcase which would amaze the fans. He missed out on a century but gave the push his team needed to gain the win. On the other hand, RR would be looking deep into their flaws after suffering consecutive losses in the game.
