ICC Champions Trophy 2025: The cameras panned towards India captain Rohit Sharma when Virat Kohli was nearing a ton in Dubai against Pakistan on Sunday. Rohit seemed nervous like the billions watching it on TV. Eventually, Kohli hit a boundary to get to the milestone and take India over the line. Rohit, who was in the dressing-room, was ecstatic. After the match, Rohit claimed that no one was surprised as they expect such things from Kohli. Rohit also admitted that Kohli loves to play for the country.
‘Kohli loves representing India’ - Rohit
“Virat Kohli loves representing India. More importantly, he wants to be out there playing for the team, doing what he does the best, which is to go out there and do what he did today,” said Rohit at the post-match presentation.
"Over the years we've seen him do it. People sitting inside the dressing room are not surprised by what he has done. It was good for him, to see the game off," the Indian skipper added.

India's chase looked relatively easy and it was expected to happen. Rohit Sharma came out all guns blazing and left Pakistan's Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi begging for answers. The Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill anchored the innings and helped India cruise through. But it was a Virat Kohli special which sealed the game in India's favour. Kohli was at his imperious best, knowing very well of what is happening and what he wants to do. His innings was laced with seven boundaries and he was adjudged the Player of the Match.

With the win, India is almost through to the semi-final, while Pakistan is all but knocked out.
