IPL 2025: With veteran Shikhar Dhawan having called it a day from international and domestic cricket, PBKS would now be sweating over his replacement. Captain of the Punjab franchise, Dhawan has surely left a void in the side and it would be difficult for the management to fill it. Not only was he the captain, but was a prolific scorer for his franchise in the IPL. He was also among the top run-getters in the history of the cash-rich league. Now, with the left-hander having retired, it is likely that he does not get to lead the side, in that case - who are the potential options for Punjab?

Rohit Sharma: Will Punjab gun for Rohit at the auction? The more important question here is, will Mumbai Indians release Rohit? Everything is speculative at the moment. Also, hypothetically, if MI release Rohit, would Punjab have the money to lap him up? Too many questions would need answers. We will get a clarity on Rohit's status soon. Also, wouldn't it be great to see Rohit and Dhawan open? 

KL Rahul: The former Lucknow Super Giants captain would enter the mega-auction, and the feeling is that he will break the bank. With Rahul, you get an opening batter - someone who can play in the middle-order as well, he also can double-up as a wicketkeeper and also lead the side. Surely, PBKS will not have him easy as there would be other franchises gunning for him.

Shikhar Dhawan to Grace the Cricket Field Again

Having bid adieu to the international and IPL cricket, Shikhar Dhawan is now free to take part in T20 leagues of all kinds. He has decided to initiate the journey after retirement with the Legends League Cricket, that will feature other known names like him, who have ended their stint with their country and in IPL and now opting to appear in comparatively less intense ventures.
