'Seen Some Of My Childhood Heroes': Jasprit Bumrah Opens Up On Grabbing Multiple ICC Honours

Jasprit Bumrah was presented with multiple ICC awards during the Champions Trophy clash between India and Pakistan in Dubai On Sunday.

Jasprit Bumrah has been India's flagbearer across all three formats of late. Persistent injury issues have been a problem for Bumrah who was ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to a back issue.

Jasprit Bumrah Conferred With Multiple ICC Honours 

Bumrah has been a constant fixture for India and is one of the first names in the Indian playing XI. The 31-year-old was recently named the ICC Men’s Cricketer Of The Year and ICC Men’s Test Player Of The Year while he was also named in the ICC Men’s Test Team Of The Year and ICC T20I Team Of The Year.

The 'Men In Blue' hasn't felt his absence in the Champions Trophy so far as the bowling unit has performed cohesively in the two matches played so far. Bumrah was in Dubai as ICC presented the awards to him ahead of the much anticipated India vs Pakistan clash on Sunday.

He expressed his delight after being conferred the honours. As quoted by the official ICC website he said, 'It feels really good. As a child, I'd seen some of my childhood heroes win this (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy) award. Always a privilege when you get such an honour.'

Jasprit Bumrah Reveals His Special Moment

Bumrah was omnipresent in the year 2024 having racked up 86 wickets in 21 matches (Tests and T20Is) including a whopping 71 wickets in red ball cricket. He also led from the front in the T20 World Cup as India ended their prolonged title drought by defeating South Africa in the summit clash.

He insisted that the T20 World Cup win would always remain special to him. ‘The T20 World Cup which we won is always going to be special and will be there in my mind.

'Obviously, a lot of learnings in my mind in the year as well. We played a lot of Test cricket, we got to know a lot of different experiences, so yeah, I'm very happy and hopefully better things will follow.'

Bumrah is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and his sole aim would be to get back his match fitness before the much anticipated IPL clash between CSK and Mumbai Indians on March 23.
