Shubman Gill's Dominant Performance In Champions Trophy 2025

In both of India's first two group-stage matches, Shubman Gill played a crucial knock, helping India to seal a place in the semifinal. The youngster played an unbeaten knock of 101 runs from 129 balls at a strike rate of 78.29 against Bangladesh. Even though the 25-year-old Indian batter didn't slam a fifty against their arch-rivals Pakistan, his crucial partnership with Virat Kohli helped the 'Men in Blue' shine over Rizwan's side.

Many cricket pundits questioned Gill's form after the end of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025, but the youngster gave a befitting reply with his performance in the ongoing marquee ICC event. The right-handed batter made his ODI debut against New Zealand in 2019, and following that, he has played 52 matches, scoring 2734 runs at a strike rate of 100.55. He smashed 8 centuries and 15 fifties in the 50-over format.

“I simply love Shubman Gill's batting, it's very classy and there's elegance in his batting. And there's consistency, it feels good to see that there's so much professionalism. There are young boys, they know how to play their role well and are making back-to-back runs. He's got a great present and future for India. Rohit enjoys playing with youngsters and he must be sharing his many years of experience with them. I'm sure he must be patting them (on the back) and telling them how to play in given situations. These small communications are very important,” Dhawan told Star Sports.

India will play their final Champions Trophy 2025 group stage match against New Zealand at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 02.
