Champions Trophy 2025: Shreyas Iyer showcased stunning performances in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025, scoring 195 runs from four matches at a strike rate of 79.92. His performances have helped Team India a lot of times when they were building or chasing during an innings. Following his display in the ongoing ICC event, the 30-year-old is likely to get his Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) central contract back, according to a reports from Indian media.

Last year, Iyer was excluded from the central contracts even though he scored 530 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023 at a strike rate of 113.25. However, Iyer showcased some remarkable knocks in the 50-over format recently, and it is for sure that the middle-order batter has confirmed his place in the number four spot of the Indian batting order.

In the previous BCCI central contracts, BCCI didn't retain Ishan Kishan along with Iyer. Since 2023, Kishan hasn't played a single match for the Indian Cricket Team.

Shreyas Iyer's Stats in CT 2025

The ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 has been the turning point for Iyer. In the opening match of the tournament against Bangladesh, Iyer played a 15-run knock from 17 balls. He made a solid comeback during the high-voltage clash against Pakistan, where the 30-year-old scored 56 runs from 67 balls at a strike rate of 83.58. The middle-order batter maintained consistency and went on to score 79 runs against New Zealand in Dubai. Meanwhile, in the semi-final against Australia, Iyer showed grit and scored 45 runs from 62 balls at a strike rate of 72.58.

Iyer's performance is one of the main reasons which helped the Men in Blue to stay unbeaten in the ongoing tournament.

Shreyas Iyer's Numbers In International Cricket

The right-handed batter made his debut for Team India in T20Is in November 2017. In the 20-over format, he has played 51 matches, scoring 1104 runs with a strike rate of 136.12. Iyer made his debut in ODIs on December 10, 2017, where he has played 69 matches and scored 2797 runs at a strike rate of 100.50. The 50-over format has always been his stronghold. His debut in the Test format came a lot later, in 2021. In the long format, Iyer played 14 matches and scored 811 runs.

Iyer's eye will be on the final match of the Champions Trophy 2025, where India will lock horns against New Zealand on March 9 in Dubai.
