A massive change is all set to take place in Team India as the Gautam Gambhir era is officially kicking off as he makes his coaching debut with a national side. Gambhir's first assignment will be the Sri Lanka white-ball series which will feature T20I and ODI matches. As he takes a step forward, the former India coach, Rahul Dravid, handed him some pointers as he calls time with his stint as the head coach of the side. The BCCI shared a video on the social media platform 'X' (Formerly Twitter) which features Gautam Gambhir, who plays an audio message from the man he succeeded, Rahul Dravid. The outgoing coach offered some key points to the new coach and gave him some crucial advice as well.
"The expectations will be high, and the scrutiny will be intense. But even in the worst of times, you will never be alone. You will have the support of the players, your support staff, the leaders of the past, the management, and never forget for whom you play; For the fans, who are very demanding, but will always be behind the team.
From one Indian Cricket Coach to another, one last thing: In the most heated of times, exhale, take a step back, and even if it's difficult for you, crack a smile. Whatever else happens, that will shock people. I wish you the very best Gautam, and I'm sure you will take the Indian team to even greater heights," Rahul Dravid said in an audio message to Gambhir.

Gautam Gambhir expressed his thoughts on Dravid's statement, revealing that it has made him emotional and that the message means a lot to him since he has looked to Dravid as an inspiration.
The white-ball tour of India officially begins as they face off against hosts Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Stadium. Suryakumar Yadav, who was appointed as the T20I skipper, will lead the helm, as Gautam Gambhir will begin his coaching stint from the Island Nation. The first match will take place on July 27, 2024.
