While the world is on a speculative spree, former India captain Sourav Ganguly has given his two cents on the topic. As per Ganguly, why is there such talk now when the side is gearing up for such a big game. Ganguly also claimed that India is far better than New Zealand.

‘Why is this even a question?’

"Why is there talk of Rohit Sharma's retirement? Why is this even a question? He won the World Cup just a few months ago. I don't know what the selectors are thinking, but Rohit is playing very well. India is far better than New Zealand. India played in the 2023 World Cup finals, won the 2024 T20 World Cup , and they are still unbeaten in this Champions Trophy. The same team will play," Ganguly said to an Indian media outlet.

"India is the favourite. India is in good form. Everyone is in very good form. Virat Kohli is there, Shubman Gill is there, Shreyas Iyer, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul - everyone is in good shape. It will be a good match. India's bowling lineup is very good. Anyone can win, anyone can lose," Ganguly said.

India vs New Zealand H2H

Team India have been extremely dominant in terms of head-to-head record against the Blackcaps. In 119 ODI matches played, the Men in Blue have won 61 matches, while the Blackcaps have secured 50 wins.

A solitary match had ended up in a tie, while seven ODI matches ended up with no results. The Indian side certainly have the edge as they head into the summit clash in Dubai. Also, what workd for India is that they recently beat NZ in their last group-stage game in Dubai. But again, everyone knows - it is a brand-new day and a brand-new game and all starts from zero.
