Ind vs Eng Tests: Spotlight would be on Rohit Sharma over the next few weeks at the IPL to see if he is fit enough to lead the side over five days or not. There have been question marks over his fitness despite him leading India to a historic Champions Trophy win. What does not work for him is his record as a batter in Tests in Australia.

He did not live upto the expectations and that raised speculations over his future in red-ball cricket. While the England series starts in June and there is still time, a PTI report stunningly claims that Rohit would be leading the side in Tests versus England despite his poor how versus Australia and New Zealand.

‘Enough time to announce the squad’

"There is enough time to announce the squad, mostly ahead of the knockouts or just after those matches. You will then get a clear picture as to which players are available by then," a source close to the development told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

Team India will begin their 45-day trip to England with the opening game at the iconic Headingley on June 20. The Indian side would be eyeing their first win in a series versus England in England since 2007.

"The first four-day match will be hosted at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury from May 30. The second match is scheduled to begin a week later on June 6 at the County Ground in Northampton," the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.

What's Up With Rohit?

The Indian captain Rohit, who recently led the side to the CT 2025 triumph, is currently featuring in the ongoing IPL season where he is an integral part of the Mumbai Indians unit.

He would love to get some runs behind his back in the IPL as that would help his confidence.
