Batting first on a spin-friendly Chidambaram Stadium surface, the Pakistan cricket team was wrapped for a first-innings score of 270 runs by the South African bowler. The Pakistani team didn't start off well and lost openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique for a score of 12 and 9 runs respectively. Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan tried to bring the innings back on the track and added 48 runs for the third wicket. However after the departure of both the batsmen, the ‘Men in Green’ faced a batting collapse and were 141/5.
