Sri Lanka Cricket's SWOT analysis ahead of ithe ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024

Strengths

A potent batting force: With players like Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samawickrama, Dasun Shanaka, and Charith Asalanaka who can alter the course of a match with their powerful hitting, the Sri Lankan cricket team possesses a formidable batting squad. Mendis and Nissanka must perform well against Bangladesh and South Africa in order to advance to the Super 8 stage.

Depth and diversity of spin in bowling: One of Sri Lanka's main advantages is their spin branch. Several spinners, such as Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Kamindu Mendis, and Dunith Wellalage, are on the team. Due of their diversity, Sri Lanka is able to adjust to a variety of opponents and pitch conditions, which gives them a tactical advantage.

Weaknesses

Inexperienced lower & lower middle order: Although Sri Lanka has a strong top order, the lower middle order and the tail end are still mostly unproven. This inexperience could pose a problem, particularly when the lower order has to step up under pressure.

Opportunities

Effectiveness of the spin bowlers during the competition: The team has a wealth of talented spinners, which is a big opportunity. Slow wickets can be especially beneficial for spinners, which Sri Lanka can use to limit opponents and apply pressure in the middle overs.

Threats

Inability to maintain composure during pivotal moments: Sri Lanka has suffered significant losses in the past due to batting collapses and "brain fade" incidents. Success for the team will depend on addressing this mental component and remaining composed in stressful moments.
