As the T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, Glenn Maxwell's form has become a topic of discussion. Despite his stellar performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, where he scored 400 runs and played a crucial role in securing Australia the trophy, his recent performance in the IPL 2024 has raised eyebrows.

However, teammate Usman Khawaja dismissed these concerns, emphasizing that Glenn Maxwell's IPL form is not indicative of his potential in the upcoming tournament.

"The IPL is absolutely irrelevant. Any player who's performed over a long period of time understands that you can’t perform well every time you go out there," Usman Khawaja told the West Australian.

"You take a few risks, particularly if you bat in the middle order, and T20 cricket’s not easy. But (for this tournament) if he gets one good innings, he’s away. It doesn’t matter what’s happened in the past. He’s not going to change his game and nor should he. Just keep going. He’ll find it," Khawaja added, expressing confidence in Maxwell's ability to bounce back.

Glenn Maxwell's performance in IPL 2024 was indeed underwhelming with the bat, scoring just 52 runs in 10 innings at an average of 5.78 and a strike rate of 120.93. However, his contributions with the ball were notable, taking six wickets at an average of 21.50 and an economy rate of 8.06.
