After a prolonged international break, focus will now shift to club football. Liverpool will travel to Burnley for a Premier League clash, and the new signing, Alexander Isak, is expected to be in the thick of things.
Liverpool Manager Arne Slot Offers Alexander Isak Update
Isak completed a deadline day transfer to Liverpool from Newcastle United as the Reds reportedly splashed more than £120 million to secure his services. The Swedish striker trained on his own as he went on a strike and didn't train with Newcastle in the pre-season. The Magpies brought in Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart in order to replace Isak.
Isak is expected to make his Premier League debut for Liverpool against Burnley on Saturday. But manager Arne Slot has insisted the striker needs to build his fitness over the course of the next few weeks. He told reporters, “Don't expect Alex to be on for 90 minutes in every game over the next few weeks.
“He missed a proper preseason, three or four months of team sessions, we have to build him up gradually. With us playing so many games, hardly any training time, that’ll be a challenge."

Liverpool Broke Their Bank To Overhaul Squad This Summer
Liverpool are yet to face a defeat in the Premier League so far. The defending champions entered the international break on the back of a 1-0 win over Arsenal, courtesy of a brilliant Dominik Sbozoslai free kick. Liverpool broke the bank in the summer and invested heavily to rebuild their squad. They splashed around £450 million to bring in the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong, while Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott, among others.

Both Ekitike and Isak will compete for the No. 9 role, and it remains to be seen how Slot manages to jiggle between the two.
